We are proud of our close-knit group of experts, qualified structural engineers here at Cephas Rock. Our extensive experience belies the fact that we consider ourselves to be young and energetic, with shared enthusiasm and drive for structural engineering and economical structural solutions. We often provide group input, with shared discussions about past and current projects while welcoming new challenges to extend our scope of experience in the expertise we provide.

At the forefront of Cephas Rock is Joshua Wong. Joshua has personally been involved in over 500 building design projects yet maintains the same level of energy and devotion to the work as would a graduate new to the industry. Joshua is an inspiration to the team, and a reliable go-to expert for all of our returning customers. Meet the team

Joshua Wong

BEng(Hons) CPEng IntPE (NZ) CMEngNZ

Position: Director/Structural Engineer (Chartered Professional Engineer)

Joshua Wong is the founder of Cephas Rock Limited. He has worked in the engineering industry since 2001. Apart from structural engineering, while he worked overseas, he has had experience in sewage treatment and industrial waste water treatment.

Joshua was very fortunate to have part of his apprenticeship under the “legendary structural engineer” Arthur Tyndall during the early part of his career. Through that, he built up a vast amount of experience in complex engineering problem solving.

He enjoys spending time with his family and for that reason he started the business and worked from home from 2010-2017.

Joshua is in charge of the operation of the whole company. Apart from that, he is also the head of technical, whereby he provides training as well as supervision for subordinate engineers.

Joshua enjoys architectural home design the most, to date, he has designed more than 250 houses; ranging from standard homes to high end properties. Joshua’s ultimate goal is to bring Cephas Rock to a multi discipline and multinational firm. His philosophy is to adopt a system for his company management and his engineer work. He believes that using the right professional people on the right job is the key to achieve best results; hence he does not hesitate to engage external consultants on IT, accounting, software and other professional engineers, he is not a fan of D.I.Y. He believes that only a top professional person can produce top quality work.

Huey Sin Lim

BCom (Finance) Otago University

Position: Director/Financial Controller

Huey Sin is the Co- founder of Cephas Rock Limited. She has worked in the banking industry for five years prior to her involvement in the firm; at that time she was Financial Executive and always strove to be the best at her job.

Even though she now spends most of her time with her young family, she is still making a great contribution in Cephas Rock in her role as a director, by assisting in making important decisions particularly in regards to the company’s expansion and quality control.

Jared Yang

BEng(Hons) MCivilEng MEngNZ

Position: Structural Engineer

Jared graduated from University of Canterbury in 2017 and has been working in New Zealand Consulting industry since then.

He completed his Civil Engineering Master Degree in University of Canterbury and had previously worked as a Geotechnical Engineer in Auckland.

Mingkeng Li

BEngTech(Civil)

Position: Structural Engineer

Ming graduated with a BEngTech (Civil) degree from the Institute of Canterbury (Ara) in July 2022 and has been working in the engineering industry since then.

The main tasks Ming performs as a structural engineer at Cephas Rock include soil investigation, foundation design, and house inspection.

In his spare time, Ming enjoys playing soccer.

Carmen Li

Position: Part time Office Administrator

As Cephas Rock’s office administrator, Carmen strives to deliver excellent assistance to the team and clients.
For the past few years, Carmen took time off to raise her young family.
