Cephas Rock Limited, Structural Consultant Engineers, was founded in 2010 by Joshua Wong, a chartered professional engineer engineer with more than nine years professional experience gained in Asia and New Zealand. His particular expertise is in design, seismic and soil issues.
Based in Christchurch, we have clients throughout Canterbury and further afield. Our clients include home owners, home buyers, commercial building owners and developers, real estate agents, architects and draughtspeople.
We have close working relationships with the real estate sector, local councils and building industry agencies.
Joshua Wong

Position: Director/Structural Engineer (Chartered Professional Engineer)
Joshua Wong is the founder of Cephas Rock Limited. He has worked in the engineering industry since 2001. Apart from structural engineering, while he worked overseas, he has had experience in sewage treatment and industrial waste water treatment.
Joshua was very fortunate to have part of his apprenticeship under the “legendary structural engineer” Arthur Tyndall during the early part of his career. Through that, he built up a vast amount of experience in complex engineering problem solving.
He enjoys spending time with his family and for that reason he decided to set up the office at home, even whilst the company has grown in staffing.
Joshua is in charge of the operation of the whole company. Apart from that, he is also the head of the technical branch whereby he provides training as well as supervision for subordinate engineers.
Joshua enjoys architectural home design the most, to date, he has designed more than 200 houses; ranging from standard homes to high end properties.
Huey Sin Lim
BCom (Finance) Otago University
Position: Director/Financial Controller
Huey Sin is the Co- founder of Cephas Rock Limited. She has worked in the banking industry for five years prior to her involvement in the firm; at that time she was Financial Executive and always strove to be the best at her job.
Even though she now spends most of her time with her young family, she is still making a great contribution in Cephas Rock in her role as a director, by assisting in making important decisions particularly in regards to the company’s expansion and quality control.
Carmen Chung
B.A (Sociology and Geography)
Carmen recently joined Cephas Rock in the role as office manager.
Coming from Auckland, Carmen is looking forward to her new role and new life in Christchurch.
David Yeoh

David comes to us from Canterbury University where he was working on a variety of different projects related to long term performance of timber structures under Professor Andy Buchanan.
He is happily married with 2 boys – Josiah aged 3 and Jonathan aged 7. In his spare time he enjoys reading a good factual novel and spending time with his family. .
Rui Li
BE(Hons.) (Second Class 1st Division)
Position: Structural Engineer

Rui brings a broad range of skills and experience to Cephas Rock, from building design and construction to drafting of structural plans. Having a father, who is also a structural engineer, meant he was exposed to engineering for as long as he can remember.
Rui enjoys facing the unique challenges which come with every job and is eager to further his knowledge in structural engineering.
